Just a quick reminder that we have the end of season family picnic on Sunday, May 22 from 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Please make every effort to attend. It is a great way to end the track season. We will be giving picture trophies to all the athletes. In addition, we will be giving out the Rafer Johnson awards, and other awards and recognitions. Even if you can’t stay for the entire duration, please stop by to pick up the picture trophies.
We will have free food and drinks for athletes and family members. Please bring chairs or blankets to sit-down and enjoy the food and watch the award ceremonies.

The United 2016 Cross Country Season is right around the corner!
Cross Country running offers athletes of varying ability many opportunities to be successful. The concentration and discipline required for distance running will benefit the athletes long after the season is over. Furthermore, the fun memories of competition and the team camaraderie can last a lifetime.
United Cross Country is part of the United Track Club. At the upcoming picnic we will be taking registrations for the 2016 season. Copies of birth certificates/passport are needed by the first practice.
What are the age groups?
The children compete in 5 age group categories: (Ages 6-13)
When and where are practices?
Practices will begin early August 2016. Workouts are held 9:00 to 10:30 am Saturday mornings and from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Meets will begin in September. Practice locations rotate between a number of local park trails
The 2016 United Cross Country Season will kick off with In Person Registration and our First Practice on early in August.
Registration material needed:
1) Two copies with original signatures of registration form
2) Two copies with original signatures of waiver/consent form
3) Copy for us to keep of government issued birth certificate or passport
4) Check made payable to United Track Club
Registration Fees for the 2016 Cross Country Season will be $155 which includes a uniform. If your uniform from track season still fits, and you don’t need a new one, the fee is $135.
5) Mail two copies of completed of registration and waiver forms, one copy of birth certificate or passport, along with check to United Track Club, P.O. Box 1116, Agoura Hills California 91301 or bring with you to the first practice.

Thank you to United parents Greg, Shamika, Wayne, and Craig, and others for putting together our picture day. They have had to work through numerous schedule and venue changes and they pulled it off with professionalism. Great example and tradition of United parents “Can Do” volunteer efforts. If you missed picture day the one and only make up day will be this Saturday, April 30th at our home track meet. They will start at 10am and will accommodate your athletes competitive events. If you have an event at the same time check in with the photographers to let them know you need a make up portrait.
Our next meet is the last regular season meet before the Junior Varsity and Varsity Championship meets. The info below is somewhat complex but one important difference between the two events is that if your young athlete has a “Q”ualifying mark or if they compete in any individual Varsity event they cannot compete in Junior Varsity under any circumstances. Those that are on the Top 25 list may be invited to Varsity given certain conditions which occur regularly.
This is a championship meet that will be the conferences’ largest single day meet of the year. It will be held at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita on May 7th. Many of our young athletes will achieve Personal Records at this championship. Eligibility requires competing at three meets this year and to be in good standing with United. Selection of your events is identical to a regular season meet and we encourage all that are eligible to attend so they can acquire an understanding of and exposure to Championship meet competition. Last year one of United’s midget boys broke the JV Championship record and this year he has broken two club records and is on his way to a great performance at the Varsity Championship.
A Q mark in any one event prevents you from competing in Junior Varsity. Being on the Top 25 list does not preclude you from competing in JV. Talk to your Head Coach about your specific situation if you are on a Top 25 list and do not have a Qualified mark.
After your athlete has competed at Junior Varsity then you have completed a full season of Track & Field. If you are interested in further competition there is a United Cross Country team and post season track & field meets and clinics that we will provide information about in the near future.
Varsity is a smaller meet and will be at Royal High School on May 14th. Only athletes that are Qualified or invited compete at this event and they must have competed in three regular season meets and be in good standing with United. The athlete is automatically entered if they have a Qualifying mark in any one event or the athlete is invited to an event to fill a heat or flight. Varsity usually has one full heat of each event consisting of athletes with “Q” marks but if the conference cannot fill the heat then invitations will be sent to those on the Top 25 list in order of best marks until the heat or flight is filled. … Read All
PICTURE DAY – Please arrive at Oak Canyon Park ON TIME and IN UNIFORM. We will not have spare uniforms available so please remember to come in uniform (at minimum a uniform top is required). These pictures are used for the end of the year trophies so please have your child attend in uniform.
Please assemble at the far corner of the park (where the distance group meets). Parents, if you are able to help organize the kids by age group, it would be of great assistance.
Age Group pictures shall be taken at 5:30PM, followed by a Full Club Picture. Individual pictures shall be taken by age group soon after. We will have three cameras, so will hopefully finish pictures for all age groups by 6:15pm. Again, volunteers to manage, gather and track the kids would be of great help.
